Shortly after Roger retired completely, we were talking about perhaps
trading in our sailing sloop for a power cruiser for our over night
trips around the
Chesapeake Bay. I said my dream boat (besides Roger, of course) would
be an old Elco, but with an electric motor so it would still be quiet
like sailing.
Nothing big, but large enough to spend a week on it and something
elegant but not to large to manage for maintenance. He did a Google search and found "Starside," who answered my exact wish list. the more we looked at her pictures, the more we began to fall in love with her. Her owner obviously cared deeply and had done some pretty serious restoration work--refitting the hull and re-powered with an Elco electric motor (EP-20), which made her even more appealing to us. The price was a little high, but when we saw what the seller had done to her, we understood why. She would never get what she spent, but wanted to at least get a good price. It was matter of respect for Starside's worth as much as anything. So we came to an agreement and brought her home in mid-February, 2017. We renamed her "Volta" in honor of her re-power to electric. The reason for her name is on the introduction page.
