1930 Elco Marinette 27 was only made one year. There was a Marinette 24 made in 1928,
also made only one year. To my knowledge, there are only 4 in existence today including Volta. "Good
Woman" is in Connecticut, "Ruby" is in South Carolina, and another modernized and painted
blue in Milwaukee area last known name was "Elizabeth."
Volta is the only electric powered version of this boat. She was originally fitted with a gas engine, changed along the way to diesel and then re-powered by her previous owner with an Elco EP-20. (more on the Volta page) The original brochure is on the gallery page. |
